译文

When the best of the Hari had gone, Bhima, the best of the strong, went by that path through the vast Gandhamadana. He remembered his body, his incomparable beauty on earth, his greatness and his power, and went on, remembering the son of Dasharatha. Then, desiring to find the forest of saugandhika lotuses, he stirred the beautiful forests and groves. He saw forests bright with blooming lotuses, and herds of rutting elephants covered in mud, Bharata, resembling masses of rain clouds. In the forest he was seen by deer with restless eyes, together with their does, holding tufts of grass in their mouths; the glorious Bhima went swiftly along the path. Bhimasena, free from fear through his courage, entered the mountain frequented by buffaloes, boars, and tigers. Trees with branches bent down by flowers, with soft copper-colored shoots, seemed to beg him, as they were shaken by the wind in the forest. Along the way he passed lotus ponds, beloved sacred fords of the forest: their flowers were folded like joined palms, and intoxicated bees attended them. His mind and gaze clung to the blossoming mountain slopes; the words of Draupadi were his provision for the road, and Bhima went on even more swiftly. As the day turned toward evening, in a forest scattered with deer, he saw a broad river with golden, spotless lotuses. It was full of intoxicated karandava birds, adorned with chakravaka birds, and seemed like a spotless lotus garland of that mountain. In that river the mighty one saw a great forest of saugandhika lotuses, which brought joy and shone like the rising sun. Seeing it, the son of Pandu attained in his mind what he desired, and in thought went to his beloved, wearied by life in the forest.
