वैशंपायन उवाच
अथासीनेषु सर्वेषु तेषु राजसु भारत ॥
कोटिकाश्यवचः श्रुत्वा शैब्यं सौवीरको ऽब्रवीत् ॥
यदा वाचं व्याहरन्त्याम् अस्यां मे रमते मनः ॥
सीमन्तिनीनां मुख्यायां विनिवृत्तः कथं भवान् ॥
एतां दृष्ट्वा स्त्रियो मे ऽन्या यथा शाखामृगस्त्रियः ॥
प्रतिभान्ति महाबाहो सत्यम् एतद् ब्रवीमि ते ॥
दर्शनाद् एव हि मनस् तया मे ऽपहृतं भृशम् ॥
तां समाचक्ष्व कल्याणीं यदि स्याच् छैब्य मानुषी ॥
कोटिकाश्य उवाच
एषा वै द्रौपदी कृष्णा राजपुत्री यशस्विनी ॥
पञ्चानां पाण्डुपुत्राणां महिषी संमता भृशम् ॥
सर्वेषां चैव पार्थानां प्रिया बहुमता सती ॥
तया समेत्य सौवीर सुवीरान् सुसुखी व्रज ॥
वैशंपायन उवाच
एवम् उक्तः प्रत्युवाच पश्यामो द्रौपदीम् इति ॥
पतिः सौवीरसिन्धूनां दुष्टभावो जयद्रथः ॥
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
athāsīneṣu sarveṣu teṣu rājasu bhārata ||
koṭikāśyavacaḥ śrutvā śaibyaṃ sauvīrako 'bravīt ||
yadā vācaṃ vyāharantyām asyāṃ me ramate manaḥ ||
sīmantinīnāṃ mukhyāyāṃ vinivṛttaḥ kathaṃ bhavān ||
etāṃ dṛṣṭvā striyo me 'nyā yathā śākhāmṛgastriyaḥ ||
pratibhānti mahābāho satyam etad bravīmi te ||
darśanād eva hi manas tayā me 'pahṛtaṃ bhṛśam ||
tāṃ samācakṣva kalyāṇīṃ yadi syāc chaibya mānuṣī ||
koṭikāśya uvāca
eṣā vai draupadī kṛṣṇā rājaputrī yaśasvinī ||
pañcānāṃ pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ mahiṣī saṃmatā bhṛśam ||
sarveṣāṃ caiva pārthānāṃ priyā bahumatā satī ||
tayā sametya sauvīra suvīrān susukhī vraja ||
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
evam uktaḥ pratyuvāca paśyāmo draupadīm iti ||
patiḥ sauvīrasindhūnāṃ duṣṭabhāvo jayadrathaḥ ||
While all these kings were seated, O Bharata, the lord of Sauvira, having heard Kotikashya's words, said to Shaibya: 'When this foremost of women speaks, my mind delights in her voice. How could you have turned away from her? Having seen her, I tell you the truth, mighty-armed one: all other women now seem to me like she-monkeys. The mere sight of her has utterly stolen my mind. Tell me who this auspicious one is, if indeed she is human, Shaibya.' Kotikashya said: 'This is Krishna-Draupadi, the illustrious princess, the greatly honored queen of the five sons of Pandu. She is dear to all the Parthas, held in high esteem, and faithful. Having met her, Sauvira, go happily to your valiant heroes.'
