सात्यकिर् उवाच
यादृशः पुरुषस्यात्मा तादृशं संप्रभाषते ॥
यथारूपो ऽन्तरात्मा ते तथारूपं प्रभाषसे ॥
सन्ति वै पुरुषाः शूराः सन्ति कापुरुषास् तथा ॥
उभाव् एतौ दृढौ पक्षौ दृश्येते पुरुषान् प्रति ॥
एकस्मिन्न् एव जायेते कुले क्लीबमहारथौ ॥
फलाफलवती शाखे यथैकस्मिन् वनस्पतौ ॥
नाभ्यसूयामि ते वाक्यं ब्रुवतो लाङ्गलध्वज ॥
ये तु शृण्वन्ति ते वाक्यं तान् असूयामि माधव ॥
कथं हि धर्मराजस्य दोषम् अल्पम् अपि ब्रुवन् ॥
लभते परिषन्मध्ये व्याहर्तुम् अकुतोभयः ॥

译文

Satyaki said: 'As is a man's heart, so does he speak! You speak in strict accordance with the nature of your inner self. There are brave men, and there are cowards too. Men may be divided into these two clearly defined classes. Just as on one great tree there may be two branches, one bearing fruit and the other barren, so from one and the same lineage of ancestors there may spring forth both a weakling and a mighty warrior endowed with great strength. O you who bear the sign of the plough on your banner, I do not, in truth, blame the words you have spoken, but I do blame those, O son of Madhu, who listen to your words! How, indeed, can one who shamelessly finds fault with the virtuous King Yudhishthira ever be allowed to speak at all in the midst of an assembly?'
