राज्ञस् तु वचनं श्रुत्वा धृतराष्ट्रस्य संजयः ॥
उपप्लव्यं ययौ द्रष्टुं पाण्डवान् अमितौजसः ॥
स तु राजानम् आसाद्य धर्मात्मानं युधिष्ठिरम् ॥
प्रणिपत्य ततः पूर्वं सूतपुत्रो ऽभ्यभाषत ॥
गावल्गणिः संजयः सूतसूनुर्; अजातशत्रुम् अवदत् प्रतीतः ॥
दिष्ट्या राजंस् त्वाम् अरोगं प्रपश्ये; सहायवन्तं च महेन्द्रकल्पम् ॥
अनामयं पृच्छति त्वाम्बिकेयो; वृद्धो राजा धृतराष्ट्रो मनीषी ॥
कच्चिद् भीमः कुशली पाण्डवाग्र्यो; धनंजयस् तौ च माद्रीतनूजौ ॥
कच्चित् कृष्णा द्रौपदी राजपुत्री; सत्यव्रता वीरपत्नी सपुत्रा ॥
मनस्विनी यत्र च वाञ्छसि त्वम्; इष्टान् कामान् भारत स्वस्तिकामः ॥

rājñas tu vacanaṃ śrutvā dhṛtarāṣṭrasya saṃjayaḥ ||
upaplavyaṃ yayau draṣṭuṃ pāṇḍavān amitaujasaḥ ||
sa tu rājānam āsādya dharmātmānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram ||
praṇipatya tataḥ pūrvaṃ sūtaputro 'bhyabhāṣata ||
gāvalgaṇiḥ saṃjayaḥ sūtasūnur; ajātaśatrum avadat pratītaḥ ||
diṣṭyā rājaṃs tvām arogaṃ prapaśye; sahāyavantaṃ ca mahendrakalpam ||
anāmayaṃ pṛcchati tvāmbikeyo; vṛddho rājā dhṛtarāṣṭro manīṣī ||
kaccid bhīmaḥ kuśalī pāṇḍavāgryo; dhanaṃjayas tau ca mādrītanūjau ||
kaccit kṛṣṇā draupadī rājaputrī; satyavratā vīrapatnī saputrā ||
manasvinī yatra ca vāñchasi tvam; iṣṭān kāmān bhārata svastikāmaḥ ||
Vaishampayana said: 'Having heard these words of King Dhritarashtra, Sanjaya set out for Upaplavya to see the Pandavas of immeasurable might. And having come before King Yudhishthira, the son of Kunti, he first bowed to him and then spoke: I hope Bhimasena is well, and that Dhananjaya, the foremost of the Pandavas, and these two sons of Madri are well. As for the wife of heroes, I hope all is well with her and her sons, in whom all your dearest joys are gathered and for whose welfare you constantly pray.'
