नकुल उवाच
उक्तं बहुविधं वाक्यं धर्मराजेन माधव ॥
धर्मज्ञेन वदान्येन धर्मयुक्तं च तत्त्वतः ॥
मतम् आज्ञाय राज्ञश् च भीमसेनेन माधव ॥
संशमो बाहुवीर्यं च ख्यापितं माधवात्मनः ॥
तथैव फल्गुनेनापि यद् उक्तं तत् त्वया श्रुतम् ॥
आत्मनश् च मतं वीर कथितं भवतासकृत् ॥
सर्वम् एतद् अतिक्रम्य श्रुत्वा परमतं भवान् ॥
यत् प्राप्तकालं मन्येथास् तत् कुर्याः पुरुषोत्तम ॥
तस्मिंस् तस्मिन् निमित्ते हि मतं भवति केशव ॥
प्राप्तकालं मनुष्येण स्वयं कार्यम् अरिंदम ॥
nakula uvāca
uktaṃ bahuvidhaṃ vākyaṃ dharmarājena mādhava ||
dharmajñena vadānyena dharmayuktaṃ ca tattvataḥ ||
matam ājñāya rājñaś ca bhīmasenena mādhava ||
saṃśamo bāhuvīryaṃ ca khyāpitaṃ mādhavātmanaḥ ||
tathaiva phalgunenāpi yad uktaṃ tat tvayā śrutam ||
ātmanaś ca mataṃ vīra kathitaṃ bhavatāsakṛt ||
sarvam etad atikramya śrutvā paramataṃ bhavān ||
yat prāptakālaṃ manyethās tat kuryāḥ puruṣottama ||
tasmiṃs tasmin nimitte hi mataṃ bhavati keśava ||
prāptakālaṃ manuṣyeṇa svayaṃ kāryam ariṃdama ||
Arjuna said: 'O Janardana, Yudhishthira has already said what needed to be said. But, O scourge of enemies, hearing what you have said, it seems to me that you, my lord, do not think that peace is easily attainable, whether on account of Dhritarashtra's greed or because of our present weakness. You also think that human valor alone is fruitless, and likewise that without displaying one's own valor, a man's aims cannot be achieved. What you have said may be true, yet at the same time it may not always be true. Still, nothing should be deemed impossible. It is true that peace seems impossible to you given our dire situation, yet they continue to act against us without reaping the fruits of their deeds.'
