译文

It was here that Surya first proclaimed the Gayatri to those who recited that sacred hymn. It was here, O best of brahmins, that Surya transmitted the Yajurveda (to Yajnavalkya). It was here that the juice of Soma, consecrated with offerings, was first drunk by the Suras at sacrifices. It was here that the Homa fires, satisfied by mantras, first drank of the substances of kindred origin. 13. It was here that Varuna first descended to the lower regions and attained all his prosperity. It was here, O bull among the twice-born, that the birth, growth, and death of the ancient Vasishtha took place. Here hundreds of different branches of Om first grew forth! 14. It is here that the smoke-eating Munis subsist on the smoke of sacrificial fires.
