译文

'I was testing your strength, your manly courage, and your intellect, speaking harshly as the strong reassure the weak. If you understand this, and if I speak rightly, then make yourself stern and rise up for victory, O Sanjaya. We have a great store of treasure, hidden from you; I alone know it, and no one else, and I will deliver it to you. You have not one but many hundreds of friends, O Sanjaya — heroes who share joy and sorrow alike, each worth a hundred, and who do not turn back. Such are the allies, counselors, and tormentors of the enemy that a man needs who wishes to rise and pull himself even a little out of adversity.'
