译文

Vaishampayana said: Then Karna heard the voice issuing from the Sun, insurmountable, full of affection, sent fatherly by Bhaskara: ‘Pritha speaks the truth, O Karna. Fulfill your mother’s word. O tiger among men, if you act thus in everything, it will be for your good.’ But even when his mother, and Bhanu himself as his father, spoke to him thus, the resolve of Karna, firm in truth, did not waver at all. Karna said: ‘It is not that I disbelieve the word spoken by you, O kshatriya woman. For me this could be a door to dharma and the fulfillment of your command. But you committed against me a sin of most grievous consequence: because of it I was cast out, and this destroyed my honor and fame.’
