译文

'Yadu, O best of the Bharatas, was the son of Devayani, dear one, the grandson through his mother of the mighty Shukra-Kavya. He became the founder of the Yadava line, strong and honored for his valor. But, full of pride and feeble in judgment, he scorned the warrior order. Blinded by the arrogance of his strength, he would not follow his father's teaching; unconquered, he despised both his father and his brothers. Across the whole earth to its four limits Yadu was mighty; having subdued the kings, he dwelt in Nagasahvaya. Then his father, Yayati, son of Nahusha, grew greatly enraged, cursed his son at Gandhara, and stripped him of the kingdom.'
