Then the servants of the lord of Dasharna reported everything to him: the whole deception, as it had happened. And the earthly lord grew furious. Meanwhile Shikhandin, O great king, was living at that time in the royal house as a man, full of joy, showing not the slightest trace of womanly nature. A few days later, having heard this, O best of the Bharatas, Hiranyavarman, O king, fell into agonizing grief from anger. Then the king of Dasharna, overcome with intense anger, dispatched a messenger to Drupada's palace. Hiranyavarman's messenger came to Drupada, drew him aside alone, and spoke these words to him in secret.

This chapter shows how the secret of Shikhandin ceases to be Drupada's private affair and becomes a political threat. Shiva's word remains the foundation for Drupada and his wife, but the human order has not yet caught up with that prophecy: marriage, family honor, and diplomatic obligations collide with the child's undisclosed nature. Drupada acts out of faith in the divine promise, yet that faith passes through fear, concealment, and the risk of war with Dasharna. Thus Amba's destiny continues to work itself out not through a direct miracle but through a chain of decisions, vows, and consequences.
