译文

Vaishampayana said: then the wise Sanjaya, son of Gavalgana, returned from the field of battle. He had been a direct eyewitness of everything, and he knew the past, the present, and the future. Coming swiftly to Dhritarashtra, who sat immersed in thought, the grieving Sanjaya told him that Bhishma, the foremost of the Bharatas, had fallen.
