अथार्जुनो ऽब्रवीत् पार्थं युधिष्ठिरम् अमित्रहा ॥
विषण्णम् अभिसंप्रेक्ष्य तव राजन्न् अनीकिनीम् ॥
प्रज्ञयाभ्यधिकाञ् शूरान् गुणयुक्तान् बहून् अपि ॥
जयन्त्य् अल्पतरा येन तन् निबोध विशां पते ॥
तत् तु ते कारणं राजन् प्रवक्ष्याम्य् अनसूयवे ॥
नारदस् तम् ऋषिर् वेद भीष्मद्रोणौ च पाण्डव ॥
एतम् एवार्थम् आश्रित्य युद्धे देवासुरे ऽब्रवीत् ॥
पितामहः किल पुरा महेन्द्रादीन् दिवौकसः ॥

Then Arjuna, slayer of foes, having seen Yudhishthira downcast on account of your army, said to him: 'O lord of men, hear by what means the fewer, even against many heroes who surpass them in wisdom and are endowed with virtues, achieve victory. O king, I shall tell you, who are free of envy, this reason. The sage Narada knows it, and so do Bhishma and Drona, O Pandava. Resting upon precisely this meaning, the Progenitor once, in the war of the gods and asuras, spoke to Mahendra and the other celestials.'
