译文

Sanjaya said: 'Then Gangeya, the best of the Bharatas, again turned to your son, who was sunk in thought, and spoke an encouraging word: "I, Drona, Shalya, Kritavarman of the Satvatas, Ashvatthaman, Vikarna, Somadatta, Saindhava, the Avantyas Vinda and Anuvinda, Bahlika with the Bahlikas, the mighty king of the Trigartas, the invincible lord of Magadha, Brihadbala of Kosala, Chitrasena, Vivimshati, along with many thousands of shining chariots bearing great banners; horses of many lands with skilled riders; war elephants maddened with rut, their temples streaming; brave foot-soldiers with varied weapons, born in many different lands — all of them have risen to battle for your sake. These and many others, who have given up their lives for you, are able, in my judgment, to conquer even the gods in battle. But it is always my duty to tell you what is good, o king: the Pandavas, who have Vasudeva as their ally and whose valor equals Mahendra's, cannot be conquered even by the gods together with Indra. And yet, o king of kings, I will do exactly as you say in every respect: either I shall conquer the Pandavas in battle, or the Pandavas shall conquer me." Having said this, he gave him a beautiful and potent herb that draws out arrows, and Duryodhana was then freed from the arrows.'
