It is promised that the knower kutracid gamanaṃ na asti, "goes nowhere." This can be understood two ways, and both readings exist in the commentaries. By the first, it concerns the wandering of the soul: the knower no longer goes into any birth, for there is nowhere left for him to go. This is the usual promise in the upaniṣads, and it was discussed when reading the Tripurā (7), where the goal was called an abode one enters and lives in.
By the second, supported by the next line with its image of space, it concerns his being already everywhere, and hence having no need to move. It is worth noting, however, the phrase pūrṇa-svarūpiṇaḥ, "having a full form." The word pūrṇa, "full," was discussed when reading the Kāṭharudra (19): the full does not become smaller by having something taken from it.
And here is an objection that must be voiced. A person's fullness is not the fullness of the boundless: a person is full like a vessel, not like the sea. The image of a reservoir and a thimble was cited when reading the Kāṭharudra (29), where the book itself acknowledged tāratamya, a ladder: all are full, and each according to his own measure.
Read this way, the promise becomes both more modest and more plausible: not "he became boundless," but — he has enough; and so he runs nowhere. Anyone who has seen a person who has enough knows he truly is in no hurry to go anywhere.
