Translation

Shaunaka said: ‘You have told the cause of the serpents’ curse—by the mother and the son, O son of Suta; and you have told of the granting of boons by the husband to Kadru and Vinata, and the names of the two birds, the sons of Vinata. But you do not name the serpents, O son of Suta; we wish to hear at least the foremost names.’ Suta said: ‘Because of their multitude, O rich in austerity, I will not name all the serpents; hear from me only the foremost.’
