सो ऽचिरेण समासाद्य तद् वनं यत्र पाण्डवाः ॥
रौरवाजिनसंवीतं ददर्शाथ युधिष्ठिरम् ॥
विदुरेण सहासीनं ब्राह्मणैश् च सहस्रशः ॥
भ्रातृभिश् चाभिसंगुप्तं देवैर् इव शतक्रतुम् ॥
युधिष्ठिरम् अथाभ्येत्य पूजयाम् आस संजयः ॥
भीमार्जुनयमांश् चापि तदर्हं प्रत्यपद्यत ॥
राज्ञा पृष्टः स कुशलं सुखासीनश् च संजयः ॥
शशंसागमने हेतुम् इदं चैवाब्रवीद् वचः ॥
राजा स्मरति ते क्षत्तर् धृतराष्ट्रो ऽम्बिकासुतः ॥
तं पश्य गत्वा त्वं क्षिप्रं संजीवय च पार्थिवम् ॥
सो ऽनुमान्य नरश्रेष्ठान् पाण्डवान् कुरुनन्दनान् ॥
नियोगाद् राजसिंहस्य गन्तुम् अर्हसि मानद ॥
एवम् उक्तस् तु विदुरो धीमान् स्वजनवत्सलः ॥
युधिष्ठिरस्यानुमते पुनर् आयाद् गजाह्वयम् ॥
so 'cireṇa samāsādya tad vanaṃ yatra pāṇḍavāḥ ||
rauravājinasaṃvītaṃ dadarśātha yudhiṣṭhiram ||
vidureṇa sahāsīnaṃ brāhmaṇaiś ca sahasraśaḥ ||
bhrātṛbhiś cābhisaṃguptaṃ devair iva śatakratum ||
yudhiṣṭhiram athābhyetya pūjayām āsa saṃjayaḥ ||
bhīmārjunayamāṃś cāpi tadarhaṃ pratyapadyata ||
rājñā pṛṣṭaḥ sa kuśalaṃ sukhāsīnaś ca saṃjayaḥ ||
śaśaṃsāgamane hetum idaṃ caivābravīd vacaḥ ||
rājā smarati te kṣattar dhṛtarāṣṭro 'mbikāsutaḥ ||
taṃ paśya gatvā tvaṃ kṣipraṃ saṃjīvaya ca pārthivam ||
so 'numānya naraśreṣṭhān pāṇḍavān kurunandanān ||
niyogād rājasiṃhasya gantum arhasi mānada ||
evam uktas tu viduro dhīmān svajanavatsalaḥ ||
yudhiṣṭhirasyānumate punar āyād gajāhvayam ||
Soon Sanjaya reached the forest where the Pandavas dwelt, and saw Yudhishthira, clad in a deerskin, seated together with Vidura and thousands of brahmins, guarded by his brothers as Indra is guarded by the gods. Approaching Yudhishthira, Sanjaya paid him honor, and likewise honored Bhima, Arjuna, and the twins as was fitting. When the king asked after his welfare, Sanjaya, seated at ease, told the reason for his coming and spoke these words: "O Kshattr, King Dhritarashtra, son of Ambika, remembers you. Go quickly, see him, and revive the king. With the leave of these best of men, the Pandavas, joy of the Kurus, you should go, by the command of the lion among kings, O giver of honor." So addressed, wise Vidura, devoted to his own kin, with Yudhishthira's consent, returned once more to Hastinapura.
