Translation

Hanuman said: "Child, there is a yuga called Krita, in which eternal dharma abides. In that best of times, what was done was already done; there remained nothing still to be done. There dharmas do not weaken, and beings do not diminish. Therefore this time, having attained the quality of fullness, is called the Krita Yuga. In the Krita Yuga, child, there were no gods, danavas, gandharvas, yakshas, rakshasas or serpents; nor was there then any buying or selling. There was no division into Sama, Yajus and Rik, and there was no human ritual. The fruit there was attained through contemplation, and dharma was renunciation. In contact with that yuga there was no disease and no decay of the senses; there was no envy, no weeping, no pride, no slander; there was no strife -- whence, then, laziness? There was no hatred, no perversion, no fear, no torment, no jealousy and no rivalry. Then the supreme Brahman, the highest goal of yogis, the soul of all beings, was the white Narayana. Brahmanas, kshatriyas, vaishyas and shudras, marked with the signs of the Krita Yuga, were each engaged in their own work. Then, with equal ashramas, equal conduct, equal knowledge and equal strength, the varnas attained dharma through equal deeds. They were joined to one Veda, to one mantric rule and action; having separate dharmas yet one Veda, they followed a single dharma. Through action bound to the four ashramas and in harmony with time, through freedom from attachment to the fruit of desire, they attained the highest goal. This dharma, joined with the yoga of the Self, bears the marks of the Krita Yuga; in the Krita Yuga it stands on four feet and is eternal for the four varnas. This is the Krita Yuga, free from the three gunas. Now learn also of Treta, in which the sacrificial rite begins."
