Translation

When the fierce daityas and danavas, the inhabitants of Patala, once defeated by the gods, learned of this resolve of his and understood that their own side was perishing together with Duryodhana, they then performed the rite deriving from the vaitana, in order to summon him. Those versed in the mantras applied the mantras spoken by Brihaspati and Ushanas, the mantras of the Atharvaveda, and the rites known in the Upanishads, together with the muttered recitation of mantras. Brahmanas who had mastered the Veda and the Vedangas, firm in their vows, offered milk oblations into the fire with concentrated minds, reciting the mantras. When the rite reached success, there arose a great and wondrous kritya, yawning, and she said: 'What am I to do?' The daityas, their hearts well pleased, said to her: 'Bring here the king, the son of Dhritarashtra, who sits in prayopavesha.' She answered, 'So be it,' and set forth. In an instant she came to where King Suyodhana was. Taking the king, she entered Rasatala, and soon informed the danavas that he had been brought. Seeing the king thus brought before them, the danavas gathered together that night, all with joyful minds and eyes somewhat widened with delight, and with pride spoke these words to Duryodhana.
