द्रौपद्य् उवाच
नास्मि देवी न गन्धर्वी नासुरी न च राक्षसी ॥
सैरन्ध्री तु भुजिष्यास्मि सत्यम् एतद् ब्रवीमि ते ॥
केशाञ् जानाम्य् अहं कर्तुं पिंषे साधु विलेपनम् ॥
ग्रथयिष्ये विचित्राश् च स्रजः परमशोभनाः ॥
आराधयं सत्यभामां कृष्णस्य महिषीं प्रियाम् ॥
कृष्णां च भार्यां पाण्डूनां कुरूणाम् एकसुन्दरीम् ॥
तत्र तत्र चराम्य् एवं लभमाना सुशोभनम् ॥
वासांसि यावच् च लभे तावत् तावद् रमे तथा ॥
मालिनीत्य् एव मे नाम स्वयं देवी चकार सा ॥
साहम् अभ्यागता देवि सुदेष्णे त्वन्निवेशनम् ॥
draupady uvāca
nāsmi devī na gandharvī nāsurī na ca rākṣasī ||
sairandhrī tu bhujiṣyāsmi satyam etad bravīmi te ||
keśāñ jānāmy ahaṃ kartuṃ piṃṣe sādhu vilepanam ||
grathayiṣye vicitrāś ca srajaḥ paramaśobhanāḥ ||
ārādhayaṃ satyabhāmāṃ kṛṣṇasya mahiṣīṃ priyām ||
kṛṣṇāṃ ca bhāryāṃ pāṇḍūnāṃ kurūṇām ekasundarīm ||
tatra tatra carāmy evaṃ labhamānā suśobhanam ||
vāsāṃsi yāvac ca labhe tāvat tāvad rame tathā ||
mālinīty eva me nāma svayaṃ devī cakāra sā ||
sāham abhyāgatā devi sudeṣṇe tvanniveśanam ||
Draupadi said: 'I am not a goddess, nor a gandharvi, nor an asuri, nor a rakshasi. I am a Sairandhri, a servant; I tell you the truth. I know how to dress hair, to grind fragrant unguents well, and to weave garlands of many kinds, very beautiful ones. I served Satyabhama, the beloved queen of Krishna, and Krishna, wife of the Pandu, the sole beauty among the Kurus. Thus I moved from place to place, receiving fine garments; however much I received, with that much I was content. That lady herself gave me the name Malini. Now, my lady Sudeshna, I have come to your house.'
