त्यजन्ति मित्रेषु धनानि काले; न संवासाज् जीर्यति मैत्रम् एषाम् ॥

अन्यत्र पापाद् विषमान् मन्दबुद्धेर्; दुर्योधनात् क्षुद्रतराच् च कर्णात् ॥
तेषां हीमे हीनसुखप्रियाणां; महात्मनां संजनयन्ति तेजः ॥
उत्थानवीर्यः सुखम् एधमानो; दुर्योधनः सुकृतं मन्यते तत् ॥
तेषां भागं यच् च मन्येत बालः; शक्यं हर्तुं जीवतां पाण्डवानाम् ॥
यस्यार्जुनः पदवीं केशवश् च; वृकोदरः सात्यको ऽजातशत्रोः ॥
माद्रीपुत्रौ सृञ्जयाश् चापि सर्वे; पुरा युद्धात् साधु तस्य प्रदानम् ॥
स ह्य् एवैकः पृथिवीं सव्यसाची; गाण्डीवधन्वा प्रणुदेद् रथस्थः ॥
तथा विष्णुः केशवो ऽप्य् अप्रधृष्यो; लोकत्रयस्याधिपतिर् महात्मा ॥

sa hy evaikaḥ pṛthivīṃ savyasācī; gāṇḍīvadhanvā praṇuded rathasthaḥ ||
tathā viṣṇuḥ keśavo 'py apradhṛṣyo; lokatrayasyādhipatir mahātmā ||
On fitting occasions they give away their wealth to friends. Friendship with them never fades with the passing of time, for they render honor and wealth to each according to his merit. No soul of the race of Ajamidha has ever borne them hatred, save that base, capricious, dull-witted Duryodhana, and the still baser Karna. These two ever kindle the ardor of those noble men who have been deprived of both friends and happiness. Enterprising and reared amid every indulgence, Duryodhana considers all this well done. It would be childish on Duryodhana's part to imagine that the Pandavas can be stripped of their rightful share while they yet live. It would be wise to yield Yudhishthira his due share before the war — Yudhishthira, in whose footsteps follow Arjuna, Krishna, Bhima, and Satyaki, as well as the two sons of Madri and the warriors of the Srinjaya race. That wielder of Gandiva, Savyasachin, seated alone on his chariot, could lay waste the entire world. And equally capable of the same is the victorious, high-souled Krishna, lord of the three worlds, whom none can conquer.
