सुधन्वोवाच
पितरं ते गमिष्यावः प्राणयोर् विपणे कृते ॥
पुत्रस्यापि स हेतोर् हि प्रह्रादो नानृतं वदेत् ॥
प्रह्राद उवाच
इमौ तौ संप्रदृश्येते याभ्यां न चरितं सह ॥
आशीविषाव् इव क्रुद्धाव् एकमार्गम् इहागतौ ॥
किं वै सहैव चरतो न पुरा चरतः सह ॥
विरोचनैतत् पृच्छामि किं ते सख्यं सुधन्वना ॥
विरोचन उवाच
न मे सुधन्वना सख्यं प्राणयोर् विपणावहे ॥
प्रह्राद तत् त्वां पृच्छामि मा प्रश्नम् अनृतं वदीः ॥
प्रह्राद उवाच
उदकं मधुपर्कं चाप्य् आनयन्तु सुधन्वने ॥
ब्रह्मन्न् अभ्यर्चनीयो ऽसि श्वेता गौः पीवरीकृता ॥

pitaraṃ te gamiṣyāvaḥ prāṇayor vipaṇe kṛte ||
putrasyāpi sa hetor hi prahrādo nānṛtaṃ vadet ||
prahrāda uvāca
imau tau saṃpradṛśyete yābhyāṃ na caritaṃ saha ||
āśīviṣāv iva kruddhāv ekamārgam ihāgatau ||
kiṃ vai sahaiva carato na purā carataḥ saha ||
virocanaitat pṛcchāmi kiṃ te sakhyaṃ sudhanvanā ||
virocana uvāca
na me sudhanvanā sakhyaṃ prāṇayor vipaṇāvahe ||
prahrāda tat tvāṃ pṛcchāmi mā praśnam anṛtaṃ vadīḥ ||
prahrāda uvāca
udakaṃ madhuparkaṃ cāpy ānayantu sudhanvane ||
brahmann abhyarcanīyo 'si śvetā gauḥ pīvarīkṛtā ||
Sudhanvan said: "Having staked our lives, we shall go to your father, for Prahlada will never speak untruth, even for his son's sake." And seeing them together, Prahlada said: "These two, who were never companions before, are now seen coming together along one road, like two enraged serpents. Have you now become companions, you who were never companions before? I ask you, O Virochana, was there friendship between you and Sudhanvan?" Virochana said: "There is no friendship between Sudhanvan and me. Rather, we have both staked our lives. O chief of the asuras, I shall put a question to you — do not answer it falsely!"
