वैशंपायन उवाच
संजये प्रतियाते तु धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥
अभ्यभाषत दाशार्हम् ऋषभं सर्वसात्वताम् ॥
अयं स कालः संप्राप्तो मित्राणां मे जनार्दन ॥
न च त्वद् अन्यं पश्यामि यो न आपत्सु तारयेत् ॥
त्वां हि माधव संश्रित्य निर्भया मोहदर्पितम् ॥
धार्तराष्ट्रं सहामात्यं स्वम् अंशम् अनुयुञ्ज्महे ॥
यथा हि सर्वास्व् आपत्सु पासि वृष्णीन् अरिंदम ॥
तथा ते पाण्डवा रक्ष्याः पाह्य् अस्मान् महतो भयात् ॥
भगवान् उवाच
अयम् अस्मि महाबाहो ब्रूहि यत् ते विवक्षितम् ॥
करिष्यामि हि तत् सर्वं यत् त्वं वक्ष्यसि भारत ॥
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
saṃjaye pratiyāte tu dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||
abhyabhāṣata dāśārham ṛṣabhaṃ sarvasātvatām ||
ayaṃ sa kālaḥ saṃprāpto mitrāṇāṃ me janārdana ||
na ca tvad anyaṃ paśyāmi yo na āpatsu tārayet ||
tvāṃ hi mādhava saṃśritya nirbhayā mohadarpitam ||
dhārtarāṣṭraṃ sahāmātyaṃ svam aṃśam anuyuñjmahe ||
yathā hi sarvāsv āpatsu pāsi vṛṣṇīn ariṃdama ||
tathā te pāṇḍavā rakṣyāḥ pāhy asmān mahato bhayāt ||
bhagavān uvāca
ayam asmi mahābāho brūhi yat te vivakṣitam ||
kariṣyāmi hi tat sarvaṃ yat tvaṃ vakṣyasi bhārata ||
Vaishampayana said: "When Sanjaya had departed, Dharmaraja Yudhishthira addressed the bull among the Dasharhas, the foremost of all the Satvatas: 'This, O Janardana, is the very hour of my friends. I see no one but you who could rescue us in adversity. Trusting in you, O Madhava, we, fearless, press our claim to our own rightful share against Dhartarashtra, who is arrogant with delusion, and against his ministers. Just as you, O subduer of foes, protect the Vrishnis in every danger, so too must the Pandavas be protected — save us from this great peril.' The blessed one said: 'Here I am, O mighty-armed one. Speak what you wish to say. I shall do all that you tell me, O Bharata.'"
