तस्यास्य यत्नाच् चरतस् त्रैलोक्यम् अमरद्युते ॥
सुमुखो भवतः पौत्रो रोचते दुहितुः पतिः ॥
यदि ते रोचते सौम्य भुजगोत्तम माचिरम् ॥
क्रियताम् आर्यक क्षिप्रं बुद्धिः कन्याप्रतिग्रहे ॥
यथा विष्णुकुले लक्ष्मीर् यथा स्वाहा विभावसोः ॥
कुले तव तथैवास्तु गुणकेशी सुमध्यमा ॥
पौत्रस्यार्थे भवांस् तस्माद् गुणकेशीं प्रतीच्छतु ॥
सदृशीं प्रतिरूपस्य वासवस्य शचीम् इव ॥
पितृहीनम् अपि ह्य् एनं गुणतो वरयामहे ॥
बहुमानाच् च भवतस् तथैवैरावतस्य च ॥
सुमुखस्य गुणैश् चैव शीलशौचदमादिभिः ॥
tasyāsya yatnāc caratas trailokyam amaradyute ||
sumukho bhavataḥ pautro rocate duhituḥ patiḥ ||
yadi te rocate saumya bhujagottama māciram ||
kriyatām āryaka kṣipraṃ buddhiḥ kanyāpratigrahe ||
yathā viṣṇukule lakṣmīr yathā svāhā vibhāvasoḥ ||
kule tava tathaivāstu guṇakeśī sumadhyamā ||
pautrasyārthe bhavāṃs tasmād guṇakeśīṃ pratīcchatu ||
sadṛśīṃ pratirūpasya vāsavasya śacīm iva ||
pitṛhīnam api hy enaṃ guṇato varayāmahe ||
bahumānāc ca bhavatas tathaivairāvatasya ca ||
sumukhasya guṇaiś caiva śīlaśaucadamādibhiḥ ||
A single stream of her milk, falling to the earth, created what is known as the sacred and excellent ‘Milky Ocean.’ The shore of this ocean is on every side ever covered with white foam, resembling a garland of flowers. The best of ascetics, known by the name of Foam-Drinkers, dwell around this ocean and subsist only on this foam. They are called foam-drinkers, O Matali, because they live on nothing but this foam.
