Translation

At the yoked pair of horses stood one man, and two more served as rear charioteers; both of these were the finest among charioteers, and the warrior on the chariot himself was a knower of horses. Thousands of chariots, adorned with golden garlands, were guarded on every side like cities, hard for enemies to capture. Like the chariots, the elephants too had tightened girths and were richly adorned; on each elephant stood seven men, and the elephants looked like mountains rich with jewels. Among them, two held goads, two were the finest archers, two, O king, held excellent swords, and one bore a lance and a banner. Such was the army of the descendant of Kuru, filled by the thousands with raging elephants, armor, weapons, and stores.
