'This mighty-armed Bhima alone fights with supreme strength, remembering the duty of a kshatriya by the might of his arms alone. Great-hearted, with his mace that slays heroes, he does, as far as his zeal allows, the nearly impossible among elephants, horses, chariots, and foot soldiers. But, O worthy one, he alone cannot destroy the enemy army by honest, straightforward fighting, even in a hundred years. This friend of yours, the sole master of weapons, likewise seems to pay us no heed, while Bhishma and the great-souled Drona burn us down. The divine weapons of Bhishma and of the great-souled Drona, loosed again and again, will consume all the kshatriyas. Krishna, Bhishma, greatly enraged and supported by all the earthly kings, will surely destroy us — such is his valor. Therefore, O lord of yoga, find the great archer, the great chariot-warrior, who in battle will still Bhishma as a cloud stills a forest fire. By your grace, Govinda, may the Pandavas, their enemies slain, regain their own kingdom and rejoice together with their kinsmen.'

Yudhishthira does not diminish Bhima, yet he understands the limit of strength alone. He turns to Krishna as the one who sees the hidden order of dharma and knows which power must be brought to bear.
