अनर्जुनम् इमं लोकं मुहूर्तम् अपि दारुक ॥
उदीक्षितुं न शक्तो ऽहं भविता न च तत् तथा ॥
अहं ध्वजिन्यः शत्रूणां सहयाः सरथद्विपाः ॥
अर्जुनार्थे हनिष्यामि सकर्णाः ससुयोधनाः ॥

anarjunam imaṃ lokaṃ muhūrtam api dāruka ||
udīkṣituṃ na śakto 'haṃ bhavitā na ca tat tathā ||
ahaṃ dhvajinyaḥ śatrūṇāṃ sahayāḥ sarathadvipāḥ ||
arjunārthe haniṣyāmi sakarṇāḥ sasuyodhanāḥ ||

Translation
"This world without Arjuna, even for one moment, O Daruka, I am not able to behold — and I will not allow it. For Arjuna's sake I will destroy the armies of the enemies, with horses, chariots, and elephants, together with Karna and Suyodhana."

The Lord's love reaches its utmost limit: "anarjunam imaṃ lokaṃ muhūrtam api... udīkṣituṃ na śaktaḥ," "I cannot bear a world without Arjuna even for a moment." For the sake of His devotee He is ready to take up arms Himself, departing from His own given word not to fight — so dear to Him is His servant. It is telling that this is said in private, as an intimate movement of the heart. The verse teaches the inconceivable power of God's love for His devotee: the Lord who sustains the universe says He cannot bear a world without one man — for to a loving God, the devotee is dearer than the very order of things.
