यस् तं द्वेष्टि स मां द्वेष्टि यस् तम् अनु स माम् अनु ॥
इति संकल्प्यतां बुद्ध्या शरीरार्धं ममार्जुनः ॥
यथा त्वम् अप्रभातायाम् अस्यां निशि रथोत्तमम् ॥
कल्पयित्वा यथाशास्त्रम् आदाय व्रतसंयतः ॥
yas taṃ dveṣṭi sa māṃ dveṣṭi yas tam anu sa mām anu ||
iti saṃkalpyatāṃ buddhyā śarīrārdhaṃ mamārjunaḥ ||
yathā tvam aprabhātāyām asyāṃ niśi rathottamam ||
kalpayitvā yathāśāstram ādāya vratasaṃyataḥ ||
"'Whoever hates him hates me; whoever follows him follows me' — so let it be reflected upon in thought: Arjuna is half of my body. [Do this,] so that you, before it dawns, this very night, having equipped the finest chariot according to the rule, and taking it up, bound by a vow…"

This is the summit of the revelation of God's love for his devotee: "śarīrārdhaṃ mama arjunaḥ", 'Arjuna is half of my body', and "yas taṃ dveṣṭi sa māṃ dveṣṭi", 'whoever hates him hates me'. The Lord identifies himself with his servant to the point of indistinguishability. It is telling that one's attitude toward the devotee becomes one's attitude toward God himself. The verse teaches the heart of bhakti: the Lord accepts the devotee as part of himself, and so service to his servant is service to him, and enmity toward the devotee is enmity toward God; God's love makes the devotee inseparable from himself.
