विमानाग्रगता देवा ब्रह्मशक्रपुरोगमाः ॥
सिद्धचारणसंघाश् च विद्याधरमहोरगाः ॥
गतप्रत्यागताक्षेपैश् चित्रैः शस्त्रविघातिभिः ॥
विविधैर् विस्मयं जग्मुस् तयोः पुरुषसिंहयोः ॥
हस्तलाघवम् अस्त्रेषु दर्शयन्तौ महाबलौ ॥
अन्योन्यं समविध्येतां शरैस् तौ द्रोणसात्यकी ॥
vimānāgragatā devā brahmaśakrapurogamāḥ ||
siddhacāraṇasaṃghāś ca vidyādharamahoragāḥ ||
gatapratyāgatākṣepaiś citraiḥ śastravighātibhiḥ ||
vividhair vismayaṃ jagmus tayoḥ puruṣasiṃhayoḥ ||
hastalāghavam astreṣu darśayantau mahābalau ||
anyonyaṃ samavidhyetāṃ śarais tau droṇasātyakī ||
The gods dwelling at the head of celestial chariots, headed by Brahma and Shakra, and hosts of siddhas and charanas, vidyadharas and great serpents -- were filled with wonder at those two man-lions, by their manifold feats of advance, retreat, and casting, various, deflecting weapons. Displaying lightness of hand in arms, the two mighty ones, Drona and Satyaki, pierced each other with arrows.

Not only men -- the gods themselves, gathered at the head of celestial chariots, marvel at the duel. It is telling that the valor of mortals astonishes the immortals. The verse teaches that the highest expression of human skill delights even the heavens: when men attain the summit of mastery, the gods themselves gaze upon them in wonder. Greatness of spirit, shown forth in loyalty and valor, raises a mortal so high that heaven itself bows in admiration.
