निकृत्या राज्यहरणं वनवासं च पाण्डव ॥
परिक्लेशं च कृष्णाया हृदि कृत्वा पराक्रम ॥
दिष्ट्यैष तव बाणानां गोचरे परिवर्तते ॥
प्रतिघाताय कार्यस्य दिष्ट्या च यतते ऽग्रतः ॥
दिष्ट्या जानाति संग्रामे योद्धव्यं हि त्वया सह ॥
दिष्ट्या च सफलाः पार्थ सर्वे कामा हि कामिताः ॥
nikṛtyā rājyaharaṇaṃ vanavāsaṃ ca pāṇḍava ||
parikleśaṃ ca kṛṣṇāyā hṛdi kṛtvā parākrama ||
diṣṭyaiṣa tava bāṇānāṃ gocare parivartate ||
pratighātāya kāryasya diṣṭyā ca yatate 'grataḥ ||
diṣṭyā jānāti saṃgrāme yoddhavyaṃ hi tvayā saha ||
diṣṭyā ca saphalāḥ pārtha sarve kāmā hi kāmitāḥ ||
"Placing in your heart the seizure of the kingdom by deceit, the forest exile, O Pandava, and the humiliation of Krishna [Draupadi], show your valor. By good fortune he has come within the range of your arrows; and by good fortune he strives foremost to obstruct our task; by good fortune he knows that in battle he must fight with you; and by good fortune, Partha, all the desired desires have come true."

The fourfold "diṣṭyā," "by good fortune [by Providence]," turns the speech into an acknowledgment of a benevolent order: everything has come together so that the guilty one has come himself to answer for it. Krishna recounts three wounds -- the stolen kingdom, the exile, the humiliation of Draupadi. It is telling that justice at last "saphalāḥ kāmāḥ," fulfills what was long awaited. The verse teaches that Providence in its hour draws all threads together toward the triumph of truth: what for years seemed to go unanswered -- deceit, exile, the humiliation of an innocent woman -- is brought, "diṣṭyā," by benevolent arrangement, to its resolution; and one who patiently awaits justice sees how Providence itself delivers the guilty to their reckoning.
