तो युधिष्ठिरो द्रोणं त्या र्वणाम्
घ्ने श्रेष्ठ र्वर्मसु भा
तं द्रोणः ञ्चविंत्या निघा स्तनान्तरे
रोषितो श्रेष्ठ कौन्तेये स्विना
भू तु विंत्या साकानां माचिनोत्
साश्वसूध्वजं द्रोणः श्यतां र्वन्विनाम्

tato yudhiṣṭhiro droṇaṃ navatyā nataparvaṇām ||
ājaghne bharataśreṣṭha sarvamarmasu bhārata ||
taṃ droṇaḥ pañcaviṃśatyā nijaghāna stantare ||
roṣito bharataśreṣṭha kaunteyena yaśasvi ||
bhūya eva tu viṃśatyā yanāṃ sacinot ||
śvatadhvajaṃ droṇaḥ paśyatāṃ sarvadhanvinām ||

Translation

"Then Yudhishthira struck Drona with ninety smooth-jointed arrows in all his vital spots, O best of the Bharatas. Him Drona, enraged by the renowned son of Kunti, struck with twenty-five arrows between the breasts, O best of the Bharatas; and again covered him — with his horses, charioteer, and banner — with twenty more arrows, before the eyes of all the archers."
