कुलीनार्यजनोपेतं तुष्टपुष्टम् अनुद्धतम् ॥
कृतमानोपकारं च यशस्वि च मनस्वि च ॥
सचिवैश् चापरैर् मुख्यैर् बहुभिर् मुख्यकर्मभिः ॥
लोकपालोपमैस् तात पालितं नरसत्तमैः ॥
बहुभिः पार्थिवैर् गुप्तम् अस्मत्प्रियचिकीर्षुभिः ॥
अस्मान् अभिसृतैः कामात् सबलैः सपदानुगैः ॥
kulīnāryajanopetaṃ tuṣṭapuṣṭam anuddhatam ||
kṛtamānopakāraṃ ca yaśasvi ca manasvi ca ||
sacivaiś cāparair mukhyair bahubhir mukhyakarmabhiḥ ||
lokapālopamais tāta pālitaṃ narasattamaiḥ ||
bahubhiḥ pārthivair guptam asmatpriyacikīrṣubhiḥ ||
asmān abhisṛtaiḥ kāmāt sabalaiḥ sapadānugaiḥ ||
Filled with well-born, noble people, content, well-fed, not unruly, favored with honor and assistance, glorious and wise; guarded by other chief counselors of glorious deeds, resembling the guardians of the world, O dear one, the best of men; protected by many kings wishing to please us, who came to us of their own will, with their troops, with their foot retinues.

The army is guarded by "lokapālopamaiḥ," kings resembling the guardians of the world, who came "kāmāt," of their own free will. Everything the earth can give has been gathered here. And this makes the lesson all the more evident: where reliance rests on people alone, there is no security. It is telling that not even a host of godlike guardians could protect against the two behind whom the Lord stands. The verse teaches that a multitude of earthly defenders is powerless against the one protected by the Almighty: true protection lies not in the number of guardians but in whose side God is on.
