तथैव तस्यावनिपालपुत्रः; संधाय बाणैर् अपरैर् ज्वलद्भिः ॥
आजघ्निवांस् तान् रजतप्रकाशांश्; चतुर्भिर् अश्वांश् चतुरः प्रसह्य ॥
तथा तु तेनाभिहतस् तरस्वी; नप्ता शिनेर् इन्द्रसमानवीर्यः ॥
सुदर्शनस्येषुगणैः सुतीक्ष्णैर्; हयान् निहत्याशु ननाद नादम् ॥
tathaiva tasyāvanipālaputraḥ; saṃdhāya bāṇair aparair jvaladbhiḥ ||
ājaghnivāṃs tān rajataprakāśāṃś; caturbhir aśvāṃś caturaḥ prasahya ||
tathā tu tenābhihatas tarasvī; naptā śiner indrasamānavīryaḥ ||
sudarśanasyeṣugaṇaiḥ sutīkṣṇair; hayān nihatyāśu nanāda nādam ||
Likewise the king's son [Sudarshana], having nocked other blazing arrows, struck those silver-gleaming four horses with four arrows, by force. So too, struck by him, the swift grandson of Shini, equal to Indra in valor, striking down Sudarshana's horses swiftly with swarms of keen arrows, let out a roar.

Blow answers blow: Sudarshana strikes Satyaki's horses, Satyaki at once slays Sudarshana's. It is telling that requital follows offense without delay. The verse teaches that in battle every blow begets an answering blow, and the circle of mutual retribution turns without end; yet in this ceaseless exchange the stronger is the one whose heart is set on the higher goal, not on enmity itself.
