निहत्य तं पार्थिवपुत्रपौत्रं; रणे यदूनाम् ऋषभस् तरस्वी ॥
मुदा समेतः परया महात्मा; रराज राजन् सुरराजकल्पः ॥
ततो ययाव् अर्जुनम् एव येन; निवार्य सैन्यं तव मार्गणौघैः ॥
सदश्वयुक्तेन रथेन निर्याल्; लोकान् विसिस्मापयिषुर् नृवीरः ॥
तत् तस्य विस्मापयनीयम् अग्र्यम्; अपूजयन् योधवराः समेताः ॥
यद् वर्तमानान् इषुगोचरे ऽरीन्; ददाह बाणैर् हुतभुग् यथैव ॥

yad vartamānān iṣugocare 'rīn; dadāha bāṇair hutabhug yathaiva ||
Having slain that son and grandson of a king in battle, the swift bull among the Yadus, filled with the highest joy, the great-souled one, shone, O king, like the king of the gods. Then he set out to where Arjuna was, having checked your army with floods of arrows, driving out on a chariot yoked with fine horses, the hero among men, wishing to astonish the worlds. That astonishing, supreme deed of his the gathered best of warriors praised -- that he burned with arrows, like fire itself, the enemies who stood within his arrows' range.

Satyaki shines surarajakalpah, like the king of the gods, and moves on toward Arjuna: his purpose remains unchanged. He is praised by yodhavarah sametah, the warriors gathered [from both sides]. It is telling that the one who called himself a mere instrument is crowned with praise as though godlike. The verse teaches that glory descends upon the humble: one who has renounced merit for the Lord's sake is exalted even by his foes, for whoever humbles himself before God is raised up before men, and his greatness is a reflection of the One whose instrument he has acknowledged himself to be.
