यद्य् हं तोस् त्याज्यो वाच्यो ऽस्मि दै हि
वां पाण्डुसुतान् संख्ये जेष्या ति मादौ
दैवाहं चः श्रुत्वा द्भ्याम् नुसंतम्
कृवान् पाण्डवैः सार्धं वैरं योविनानम्
दि नाहं रित्याज्यो द्भ्यां पुरुर्षभौ
युध्येताम् नुरूपे विक्रमे सुविक्रमौ
वाक्प्रतोदे तौ वीरौ प्रणुन्नौ ये ते
प्रार्तयेतां तौ युद्धं ट्टिताव् न्नगौ

yady ahaṃ bhavatos tyājyo na cyo 'smi tadaiva hi ||
āvāṃ ṇḍusun saṃkhye jeṣyāva iti nadau ||
tadaihaṃ vacaḥ śrutvā bhavadbhyām anusaṃmatam ||
kṛtan pāṇḍavaiḥ rdhaṃ vairaṃ yodhaviśanam ||
yadi haṃ parityājyo bhavadbhyāṃ puruṣarṣabhau ||
yudhyem anupeṇa vikrameṇa suvikramau ||
kpratodena tau rau praṇunnau tanayena te ||
prāvartayetāṃ tau yuddhaṃ ghaṭṭiv iva pannagau ||

Translation

"If I am forsaken by you two, I should have been told of it then -- 'We two sons of Pandu shall conquer in battle,' O bestowers of honor. Hearing that word then, approved by you both, I waged with the Pandavas an enmity that destroys warriors. If I am not forsaken by you two, O bulls among men, fight as befits you, with valor, O most valiant ones." Stung by the goad of his words, those two heroes, urged on by your son, began the battle, like two disturbed serpents.
