Traducción

Pandu said: "Even those born in the family of the righteous, untamed, ensnared in the nets of desire, come by their own deeds, alas, to an evil fate. Though born of the ever-righteous one, my father, while still young, came to the end of his life, being lustful -- so we have heard. Upon the wife of that lustful king, the truthful sage, the lord Krishna-Dvaipayana himself begot me. Now, in this time of calamity, this base disposition has arisen in me -- in me, abandoned by the gods, evil of soul, because of the disaster during the hunt. I resolve upon renunciation: for the bonds of the world are a great calamity. I shall follow the imperishable, virtuous path of my father, and wholly devote myself to austerity."
