ददौ संवरणस्यार्थे वसिष्ठाय महात्मने ॥
प्रतिजग्राह तां कन्यां महर्षिस् तपतीं तदा ॥
वसिष्ठो ऽथ विसृष्टश् च पुनर् एवाजगाम ह ॥
यत्र विख्यतकीर्तिः स कुरूणाम् ऋषभो ऽभवत् ॥
स राजा मन्मथाविष्टस् तद्गतेनान्तरात्मना ॥
दृष्ट्वा च देवकन्यां तां तपतीं चारुहासिनीम् ॥
वसिष्ठेन सहायान्तीं संहृष्टो ऽभ्यधिकं बभौ ॥

यत्र विख्यतकीर्तिः सः कुरूणाम् ऋषभः अभवत्yatra vikhyatakīrtiḥ saḥ kurūṇām ṛṣabhaḥ abhavatwhere that renowned bull of the Kurus [Samvarana] was;
सः राजा मन्मथाविष्टः तद्गतेन अन्तरात्मनाsaḥ rājā manmathāviṣṭaḥ tadgatena antarātmanāthat king, seized by Manmatha [the god of love], his inmost self fixed upon her,
दृष्ट्वा च देवकन्यां तां तपतीं चारुहासिनीम्dṛṣṭvā ca devakanyāṃ tāṃ tapatīṃ cāruhāsinīmand, having seen that celestial maiden Tapati, charmingly smiling,

Traducción

"Then Tapana himself [the Sun] gave Tapati, flawless in every limb, to the great-souled Vasishtha for the sake of Samvarana, and the maharishi accepted that maiden. Having taken his leave, Vasishtha returned once more to where the renowned bull of the Kurus was. And the king, seized by Manmatha, his inmost being fixed upon her, upon seeing the celestial maiden Tapati, charmingly smiling, coming along with Vasishtha, rejoiced and shone all the brighter."
