Here the eldest brother keeps his caution amid the triumph. It is significant that Yudhishthira does not linger to revel in victory but quietly withdraws: a wise man does not lose an exile's vigilance even in success. Here is a moderation that is not intoxicated by triumph: where others would rejoice openly, the righteous man withdraws, guarding the secret. Thus the scripture shows Yudhishthira's sobriety; and his withdrawal shows that the hour of full disclosure has not yet come.
