तावद् एवाद्य ते शक्या न शक्यास् तु ततः परम् ॥

Here malice hurries, dreading to miss its chance. It is telling that Duryodhana calls for haste before the Pandavas grow strong: evil fears time, for time nurtures truth. Telling too is the blasphemous phrase "faultless means" — he calls the choicest villainy "faultless." Here the corruption of words is exposed, where vice is named virtue. Thus the text reveals the impatience of untruth; and the very haste betrays its fear before the rising strength of good.
