Here the host is called their "wife" — a bitter irony. It is telling that war becomes the companion of these inseparable brothers: weapons replace peace and rest for them. This reveals that one who gives himself over to violence is wedded to ruin. Thus the scripture shows the warlike intoxication of the asuras; and the flatterers' praise only fans their ruinous pride.
