Traducción

Having said this, the king, grieving, sat down upon the ground. Then the wise brahmin named Shaunaka, who delighted in spiritual knowledge and was skilled in yoga and sankhya, said to him: ‘Thousands of grounds for grief and hundreds of grounds for fear enter the foolish day after day, but not the wise. The intelligent, such as you, do not cling to deeds contrary to knowledge, full of faults, and destructive of the highest good. That eightfold wisdom, joined with shruti and smriti, which destroys all that is unfavorable, abides in you, O king. In hardships born of want, in dangers, and in the misfortunes of kin, people like you do not sink under bodily and mental suffering. Listen, and I will tell you the verses once sung by the great Janaka, which establish the self within itself. The world is tormented by two sufferings, born of mind and body; hear now, briefly and in detail, the means of pacifying them.’
