उद्यतो ऽहं द्विजश्रेष्ठ तव दर्शयितुं दिशः ॥
पृथिवीं चाखिलां ब्रह्मंस् तस्माद् आरोह मां द्विज ॥

Traducción
Those who are destined to go here after death will encounter a dense darkness. And so thick is this darkness that neither the Sun itself nor Agni can penetrate it. However worthy of worship you may be, even you will have to travel this road. Tell me now whether you wish to set out in this direction. Otherwise, hear the account of the western direction.'

This passage (5.109.26) develops the central theme of the Udyoga-parva: the effort for peace is already underway against the backdrop of an inevitable war. Dharma is revealed here through speech, the choice of embassy, faithfulness to promises, and the responsibility of kings for the consequences of their decisions.
