सर्वान् एतान् अनादृत्य दुर्मतिर् निरपत्रपः ॥
अशिष्टवद् अमर्यादो मानी मान्यावमानिता ॥
तं प्रस्थितम् अभिप्रेक्ष्य भ्रातरो मनुजर्षभम् ॥
अनुजग्मुः सहामात्या राजानश् चापि सर्वशः ॥
सभायाम् उत्थितं क्रुद्धं प्रस्थितं भ्रातृभिः सह ॥
दुर्योधनम् अभिप्रेक्ष्य भीष्मः शांतनवो ऽब्रवीत् ॥
धर्मार्थाव् अभिसंत्यज्य संरम्भं यो ऽनुमन्यते ॥
हसन्ति व्यसने तस्य दुर्हृदो नचिराद् इव ॥
दुरात्मा राजपुत्रो ऽयं धार्तराष्ट्रो ऽनुपायवित् ॥
मिथ्याभिमानी राज्यस्य क्रोधलोभवशानुगः ॥

taṃ prasthitam abhiprekṣya bhrātaro manujarṣabham ||

duryodhanam abhiprekṣya bhīṣmaḥ śāṃtanavo 'bravīt ||
dharmārthāv abhisaṃtyajya saṃrambhaṃ yo 'numanyate ||
hasanti vyasane tasya durhṛdo nacirād iva ||
durātmā rājaputro 'yaṃ dhārtarāṣṭro 'nupāyavit ||
mithyābhimānī rājyasya krodhalobhavaśānugaḥ ||
Evil-minded, shameless, behaving like one ill-bred, transgressing all bounds, proud, and contemptuous of the worthy, he departed; and seeing this bull among men leave, his brothers together with their counselors and all the kings followed after him. Seeing Duryodhana, who had risen in the assembly in anger and was leaving together with his brothers, Bhishma, son of Shantanu, said: ‘Whoever, abandoning dharma and true benefit, indulges his fury, over his misfortune wicked friends will soon be laughing. This evil-souled prince, son of Dhritarashtra, knows no proper remedy; he holds a false conceit about his kingdom, and follows the sway of anger and greed.’
