"Arishta, Dhenuka, the mighty Chanura, the horse demon, and Kamsa, who dealt in evil, were slain. Jarasandha, Vakra, the mighty Shishupala, and Bana were struck down in battle, and many kings were destroyed. King Varuna was defeated, and fire too was subdued by his boundless might; when he carried off the parijata, the very husband of Shachi was defeated. While he lay in the single ocean, Madhu and Kaitabha were slain; in another incarnation, Hayagriva was likewise slain. This Shauri is himself the doer, not one made the instrument of another's power; whatever he may wish, he accomplishes without effort."
