सारवद् बलम् अस्माकं दुष्प्रधर्षं दुरासदम् ॥
धार्तराष्ट्रबलं संख्ये वधिष्यति न संशयः ॥
एवम् उक्ते तु कृष्णेन संप्रहृष्यन् नरोत्तमाः ॥
तेषां प्रहृष्टमनसां नादः समभवन् महान् ॥
योग इत्य् अथ सैन्यानां त्वरतां संप्रधावताम् ॥
हयवारणशब्दश् च नेमिघोषश् च सर्वशः ॥
शङ्खदुन्दुभिनिर्घोषस् तुमुलः सर्वतो ऽभवत् ॥
प्रयास्यतां पाण्डवानां ससैन्यानां समन्ततः ॥
गङ्गेव पूर्णा दुर्धर्षा समदृश्यत वाहिनी ॥
अग्रानीके भीमसेनो माद्रीपुत्रौ च दंशितौ ॥
सौभद्रो द्रौपदेयाश् च धृष्टद्युम्नश् च पार्षतः ॥
प्रभद्रकाश् च पाञ्चाला भीमसेनमुखा ययुः ॥
sāravad balam asmākaṃ duṣpradharṣaṃ durāsadam ||
dhārtarāṣṭrabalaṃ saṃkhye vadhiṣyati na saṃśayaḥ ||
evam ukte tu kṛṣṇena saṃprahṛṣyan narottamāḥ ||
teṣāṃ prahṛṣṭamanasāṃ nādaḥ samabhavan mahān ||
yoga ity atha sainyānāṃ tvaratāṃ saṃpradhāvatām ||
hayavāraṇaśabdaś ca nemighoṣaś ca sarvaśaḥ ||
śaṅkhadundubhinirghoṣas tumulaḥ sarvato 'bhavat ||
prayāsyatāṃ pāṇḍavānāṃ sasainyānāṃ samantataḥ ||
gaṅgeva pūrṇā durdharṣā samadṛśyata vāhinī ||
agrānīke bhīmaseno mādrīputrau ca daṃśitau ||
saubhadro draupadeyāś ca dhṛṣṭadyumnaś ca pārṣataḥ ||
prabhadrakāś ca pāñcālā bhīmasenamukhā yayuḥ ||
"Our army is strong in essence, hard to overcome, and unassailable; in battle it will surely destroy the army of Dhritarashtra's sons -- of this there is no doubt." When Krishna had spoken thus, the best of men rejoiced, and among them, exulting in heart, a great shout arose. Then, among the armies hastening and rushing forward, the noise of horses and elephants, the rumble of wheels, and the loud roar of conches and drums resounded from every side. As the Pandavas set out with their armies from all directions, their host appeared like the full, unassailable Ganga. In the vanguard marched Bhimasena, the two sons of Madri clad in armor, the son of Subhadra, the sons of Draupadi, Dhrishtadyumna-Parshata, the Prabhadrakas, and the Panchalas led by Bhimasena.

In this chapter, the peace negotiations finally give way to preparation for war. The Pandavas choose their military commander not out of pride but through counsel, experience, and trust in Krishna; their movement to Kurukshetra is then described as orderly, sacrificially prepared, and surrounded by allies. Dharma here manifests not as a refusal to act, but as the right ordering of an unavoidable duty.
