अदृश्यत तदा राजंश् चन्द्रोदय इवार्णवः ॥

With waves of colorful ornaments and armor, with the bright foam of weapons, surrounded by mountain-ranges of palaces, with its streets and marketplaces as great pools, the vast ocean of the Kuru realm rose up with the rising of its warrior-moons. Then, O king, it seemed like the ocean at moonrise.

The chapter shows how news of the Pandavas encamped on Kurukshetra turns Duryodhana's fear into military mobilization. He understands that Krishna will tell the Pandavas everything, yet instead of yielding he chooses to prepare for confrontation: camps, roads, weapons, troops, and a city roaring like the ocean before a storm.
