सर्गाणाम् आदिर् अन्तश् च मध्यं चैवाहम् अर्जुन ॥
अध्यात्मविद्या विद्यानां वादः प्रवदताम् अहम् ॥
अक्षराणाम् अकारो ऽस्मि द्वंद्वः सामासिकस्य च ॥
अहम् एवाक्षयः कालो धाताहं विश्वतोमुखः ॥
मृत्युः सर्वहरश् चाहम् उद्भवश् च भविष्यताम् ॥
कीर्तिः श्रीर् वाक् च नारीणां स्मृतिर् मेधा धृतिः क्षमा ॥
बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसाम् अहम् ॥
मासानां मार्गशीर्षो ऽहम् ऋतूनां कुसुमाकरः ॥
द्यूतं छलयताम् अस्मि तेजस् तेजस्विनाम् अहम् ॥
जयो ऽस्मि व्यवसायो ऽस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववताम् अहम् ॥

kīrtiḥ śrīr vāk ca nārīṇāṃ smṛtir medhā dhṛtiḥ kṣamā ||
bṛhatsāma tathā sāmnāṃ gāyatrī chandasām aham ||
māsānāṃ mārgaśīrṣo 'ham ṛtūnāṃ kusumākaraḥ ||
dyūtaṃ chalayatām asmi tejas tejasvinām aham ||
jayo 'smi vyavasāyo 'smi sattvaṃ sattvavatām aham ||
"Among creations I am the beginning, the end, and also the middle, O Arjuna. Among knowledges I am the knowledge of adhyatma; among those engaged in debate, the true argument. Among letters I am A, among compounds, the dvandva; I am imperishable time and the sustainer, facing all directions. I am death, taking all, and the arising of what is to be; among feminine qualities I am fame, beauty, speech, memory, intellect, steadfastness, and patience. Among the hymns of the Sama Veda I am the Brihat-saman, among meters, Gayatri; among months, Margashirsha, among seasons, blossoming spring. Among deceivers I am the game of dice; I am the splendor of the splendid, victory, resolve, and the goodness of the good."
