क्षीबवद् विह्वलो वीरो निमेषात् पुनर् उत्थितः ॥
भीमो ऽपि सुमहाबाहुर् गदापाणिर् अदृश्यत ॥
ततो मद्राधिपं दृष्ट्वा तव पुत्राः पराङ्मुखम् ॥
सनागरथपत्त्यश्वाः समकम्पन्त मारिष ॥
ते पाण्डवैर् अर्द्यमानास् तावका जितकाशिभिः ॥
भीता दिशो ऽन्वपद्यन्त वातनुन्ना घना इव ॥
निर्जित्य धार्तराष्ट्रांस् तु पाण्डवेया महारथाः ॥
व्यरोचन्त रणे राजन् दीप्यमाना यशस्विनः ॥
सिंहनादान् भृशं चक्रुः शङ्खान् दध्मुश् च हर्षिताः ॥
भेरीश् च वादयाम् आसुर् मृदङ्गांश् चानकैः सह ॥

vyarocanta raṇe rājan dīpyamānā yaśasvinaḥ ||
siṃhanādān bhṛśaṃ cakruḥ śaṅkhān dadhmuś ca harṣitāḥ ||
bherīś ca vādayām āsur mṛdaṅgāṃś cānakaiḥ saha ||
Staggering like a drunken man, the hero [Bhima] rose again in an instant; and Bhima, mighty-armed, appeared once more with mace in hand. Then, seeing the king of Madra [Shalya] carried from the field, your sons, together with their elephants, chariots, foot soldiers and horsemen, trembled, O venerable one. Harassed by the triumphant Pandavas, your warriors, gripped by fear, scattered in every direction, like clouds swept away by the wind. Having overcome the sons of Dhritarashtra [the Kauravas], the mighty chariot-warriors of the Pandavas shone brilliantly in battle, O king, radiant and crowned with glory. Loudly they raised lion-cries, rejoicing they blew their conches, and the kettledrums and mridangas thundered together with the drums.

Bhima, though fallen to the ground, "rises again in an instant" — and in this rising after the fall he shows the highest valor: greatness lies not in never falling, but in standing up at once. With a single warrior removed, the whole Kaurava army "trembles and flees like clouds before the wind" — once again revealing that their host stood not on truth or on each man's own spirit, but on a few pillars alone. The verse teaches that true strength is known by the power to rise after a fall; that an army whose firmness rests on a few men crumbles when they are lost; and that the rejoicing of the Pandavas is not the triumph of pride, but the joy of a righteous cause crowned with success.
