तथेत्य् उक्त्वा गता देवी कृतकामा मनस्विनी ॥
स चाप्य् आसीद् दुराधर्षो नरकः शत्रुतापनः ॥
तस्मात् प्राग्ज्योतिषं प्राप्तं तद् अस्त्रं पार्थ मामकम् ॥
नास्यावध्यो ऽस्ति लोकेषु सेन्द्ररुद्रेषु मारिष ॥

Traducción
Having said 'so be it,' the wise goddess departed, her wish fulfilled; and Naraka became unconquerable, a scorcher of enemies. From him that weapon of mine passed to Bhagadatta, O Partha. There is none in the worlds — not even Indra and Rudra — able to slay him, O worthy one.

The weapon passes from hand to hand — from Naraka to Bhagadatta — and invulnerability passes with it. This shows that gifts and powers wander through the world, outliving their first owners, and a formidable inheritance can fall to another. It is significant that Bhagadatta 'cannot be slain by anyone, even Indra and Rudra': before a protection granted by God, even the greatest of the gods are powerless. The verse teaches that powers and gifts are inherited and passed on, not fading with the death of the one who received them; that there exists a protection against which the whole host of gods is powerless; and that this is precisely why the resolution lies not with men, nor even with Indra and Rudra, but with the One alone who established this gift — which is why it took the Lord Himself to come and take His own weapon out of unworthy hands.
