हम् सुद्रायाः केवार्जुयोर् पि
प्रिकामो याकाङ्क्षी कृवान् दम् प्रियम्
लुब्धो बुध्यते दोषान् मोहाल् लोभः प्रर्तते
धु लिप्सुर् हि नाश्यं प्रपातम् दम् दृशम्

priyamo jaṅkṣī kṛtan idam apriyam ||
na lubdho budhyate doṣān mol lobhaḥ pravartate ||

मधु लिप्सुः हिmadhu lipsuḥ hifor one craving honey; for, lusting after honey
न अपश्यम्na apaśyamI did not see [notice]; I did not perceive
प्रपातम् इदम् ईदृशम्prapātam idam īdṛśamsuch a precipice [abyss]; such an abyss
Traducción

"I alone, wishing well for Subhadra, Keshava, and Arjuna, craving victory, wrought this calamity. The covetous do not perceive their faults — from confusion avarice is born; for, lusting after honey, I did not perceive such an abyss."
