अनुवाद

'Then Kadru, having conceived of deceit, ordered her thousand serpent sons: "Become hairs, black as collyrium, and quickly cover the horse, so that I may not become a slave." But the sons did not heed that word, and she cursed the serpents: "At the serpent sacrifice of the wise royal sage Janamejaya, descendant of Pandu, fire shall burn you." This most cruel curse, uttered by Kadru at the bidding of fate, the Forefather (Brahma) himself heard, and together with all the hosts of gods he approved that word — seeing the multitude of serpents, for the welfare of other beings. For these biting creatures are of fierce and potent venom, mighty in strength; because of their harsh venom, for the welfare of beings, [Brahma approved the punishment]. And along with this he granted to the great Kashyapa the knowledge (vidya) that cures poison.'
